What Do Dental Implant Leads Actually Cost?

Twelve to thirty-five dollars a click, around a ten percent conversion rate, and a close rate you control. Work it forward and the budget question answers itself.

Implant campaigns are the most expensive thing a dental practice can run and frequently the most profitable. The difference is whether anybody did the arithmetic before the account went live.

The numbers

What an implant click costs, and why it is the highest in dentistry

Twelve to thirty-five dollars, depending on your market

Here is the number that decides whether this campaign is viable for you: dental implant keywords run $12 to $35 a click in 2026, against $2 to $8 for general dentistry. Google prices attention by what the winner stands to make, and a full-arch case is worth more than a cleaning by a factor most practices have never stopped to calculate. That price is not a sign the channel is broken. It is a sign the channel is competitive, which is a different problem with a different solution — mostly budget and patience rather than cleverness.

Why the spread between markets is so wide

A metro with four implant-focused practices and a DSO bidding aggressively produces very different costs than a smaller city with one specialist. The same keyword can cost $14 in one place and $33 forty miles away. This is the reason any agency quoting you a national average is telling you something close to meaningless — the only number that matters is what it costs where your patients are.

The cost is rising, and the reason matters

Implant marketing has attracted corporate and DSO money for several years, and those buyers can tolerate a higher cost per case than an independent practice because their lifetime value assumptions are different. You are not bidding against other dentists so much as against organisations with different arithmetic, which is worth understanding before you conclude you are being outplayed.

The math

From click to booked implant case, step by step

Four steps, and most practices only ever look at the first

Take $25 a click as a middle-of-the-road figure. At a ten percent conversion rate from click to lead — which is roughly the dental average — that is $250 per lead. If half of the consults you book actually close, you are at $500 per case. That $500 is the number that matters, and it is the one almost nobody calculates, because it requires connecting the ad platform to what happened in the chair three weeks later.

Now compare it to what a case is worth to you

Against a $4,000 single implant case, $500 is an eight-to-one return and you should be spending considerably more than you are. Against a $1,800 case in a market where you are discounting to compete with a corporate group, the same $500 is a conversation about whether this is the right treatment to chase at all. Same campaign, same cost per click, completely different decision.

Published benchmarks for the whole journey

Industry figures put cost per booked patient at roughly $200 to $400 for implants and specialty work, against $70 to $150 for general dentistry. If your own number lands well above that range, the problem is usually the close rate or the phone rather than the bidding, which is a cheaper thing to fix than it sounds.

Cost per click: $12–$35 depending on market
Cost per lead: around $250 at a 10% conversion rate
Cost per booked case: around $500 at a 50% consult close rate
Benchmark range: $200–$400 per booked implant patient
Budget

The minimum budget an implant campaign needs to work

Below about $2,000 a month, do not run search for implants

At $25 a click, $800 a month buys roughly thirty-two clicks. At a ten percent conversion rate that is three leads, and at a fifty percent close rate that is one and a half cases — with enormous month-to-month variance and nowhere near enough data for the campaign to optimise. Three months of that produces a conclusion that implants do not work on Google, when what actually happened is the campaign never gathered enough information to function.

What to do with a smaller budget instead

Put it into Local Services Ads, where you pay per lead rather than per click, and into retargeting people who already read your implant page. Both stretch further at low budgets. Then build the implant page properly so it ranks organically, because that traffic costs nothing per click and compounds while you wait.

When to walk away from implant search entirely

If the click cost in your market means your cost per case approaches a meaningful fraction of the case value, the honest answer is that this is not your channel this year. Referral relationships, your own patient base and reactivation produce implant cases at a fraction of the cost, and nobody selling you ads has an incentive to say so.

Improving it

How to lower your cost per implant case without lowering bids

Fix the landing page before you touch the account

Sending implant traffic to a homepage is the single most expensive mistake available here, and it is remarkably common. A dedicated page with cost ranges, financing, real case photos and a consult booking above the fold will move the conversion rate more than any bid adjustment, and it improves your quality signals, which lowers the click cost as a side effect.

Answer the cost question rather than dodging it

“Contact us for pricing” on an implant page loses the people who were going to pay and keeps the ones who were going to ask. A range with the variables — bone grafting, sedation, the number of units — filters properly and pre-qualifies the call.

Retarget, because almost nobody books full-arch on a first visit

A patient researching implants visits four or five practice sites and books none of them that day. Retargeting keeps you in front of that decision for a few cents while it is still open. Without it, you paid for the visit and handed the case to whoever followed up.

Then check the phone, honestly

A $500 case acquisition is wasted entirely if the call goes to voicemail at lunchtime. Implant enquiries are considered purchases and callers will absolutely ring the next practice. Call recording turns this from a debate into a recording somebody can listen to.
